Our Iris Swirl Necklace is a lightweight statement style inspired by our Catja print. The contrasting handcut timber discs have been threaded in a mesmerising, alternating colour pattern and shift like cogs on a wheel, providing movement and flair to the design. These discs are then strung onto light cotton cord, the final step in the handmaking process by skilled artisans in the Philippines. Whether you are looking to introduce subtle colour or building texture with your accessories, you will love this eye-catching design.
This jewellery piece was hand made by skilled artisans in the Philippines, using responsibly sourced timber and other carefully selected materials. Each wooden bead is hand turned and custom dyed, followed with a natural wax polish for surface protection. The timber was grown in the Philippines in sustainably managed plantations that we have been able to visit to learn more about where our timber comes from.
This piece is 100% handmade in Cebu, Philippines by a family-owned workshop called Earthworks who have collaborated with ELK since 2004. Crafted from sustainable plantation timber, each bead is hand cut, shaped, dyed and then polished with a natural wax-based product and the finished pieces are extremely light. Christine the owner runs an incredible business whose team is made up mostly of women. They have wonderful skills, training and health program initiatives in place which you can learn more about here. For our timber jewellery we have managed to trace our supply chain back to the farm. With Christine’s assistance, we have mapped all materials, trims and third-party contributors.
